Subtle Balance

Visual art project focused on the formal and conceptual abstraction of objects and tools, its conception starts from the simple machines’ structure and its relationship with the human one, taking as objects of study, manufacturing tools that belong to a traditional stage revealing a way of life, human developing studies and scientific diagrams.

This project takes as an initial source, an specific database collected on the Tlacolula Market and the Hardware stores at Oaxaca’s downtown, where they still sell tools and objects that can put us in a lifestyle that refers to a different way  of relating with the immediate context and its transformation.

Cecilia Jaime
Sin Ruido Alguno

She studied graphic design at college, Autonoma de Guadalajara.
The process of living, of being present in the world, supposes work and patience; it implies being surrounded by things that, by using, taking and leaving them, by entangling ourselves with them, become part of the plot of our daily life. To knit on this plot is to live; it is, alas, weaving little by little, a series of moments and assigning them value and meaning. The new work by Cecilia Jaime is created precisely in this way. Armed with time and goodwill, Cecilia wove these skins on which she wrote her own story in a series of ordinary, cyclical and repetitive gestures. Thus emerge complex structures creating a universe plagued with ciphered confessions.
