Mónica Álvarez Herrasti
Ciudad de México, 1974

 

Painter. Her work has been featured in more than 40 solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Honduras, Spain, Cuba, Germany, the United States, and Mexico.

She has a degree in Communication from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master in Arts, Design and Technology from the Parsons School in New York. She currently works teaching natural drawing classes, for the common core area undergraduate level, at the Central University of Mexico City.

It has been recognized with the Stimulus to artistic creation granted by the Municipal Fund of Culture of Saltillo, 2006; She was a fellow of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts through the Young Creators Program 2004-2005, and the Study Abroad program 2000-2001 and 2001-2002; received the Incentive from the National Institute of Cinematography of Mexico, 2004. She was a beneficiary of the FORCA Artistic Residency Program for artists from the North of Mexico, 2012 and creditor of the support of Investment Projects in the Production of National Painting of the INBA, 2012. Her work has been selected to be part of the 2015 Arte Laguna Prize catalog and the FONCA's 20-year Commemorative Catalog of the Young Creators Program. Her works are part of the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Graphic Arts of Coahuila, in Mexico and the Museum of San Juan de las Alazanas, in Arteaga, Coahuila.
