Cassandra de Santiago
Mexico City, 1986

The representation of the human figure has been the motif that has guided my pictorial practice and from which the different series that I have developed have emerged, always with a special fascination for both portraiture and the way in which shapes and figures are deciphered and constructed. colors of the face, as well as for the work on the psychological gesture of the characters.

These are realistic representations, however I resort to the insertion of objects and settings modified or taken out of their usual context to create narrative tensions through the representation of situations whose characteristics do not correspond to what can usually be considered as plausible or “objective reality "

The work has a strong autobiographical content and is presented as an exercise in recognition of how reality unfolds and unfolds in my life.
