Beatriz Morales
Mexico City, 1981
|
Beatriz Morales was born in Mexico City in 1981 where she began to develop her pictorial technique in a self-taught way since her childhood. He left Mexico in 2001 to pursue a more conventional training in painting and fashion design in Europe. He has lived and worked in Berlin for several years.
His work reconciles forms related to abstract expressionism with figurative components. Recurrent in his practice, the spot occupies a fundamental place in the work: in a liminal gesture of denial, which keeps intact the violence of the non-child, Morales initiates each of his paintings by a stain. Associated with a broad chromatic palette, the accident, work after work, is affirmed as the creative force of his compositions.
Beatriz Morales has exhibited her work in Mexico and Europe over the last ten years, has participated in the XVII Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial, Zona Maco, Gallery Weekend Berlin and is currently preparing for her first solo exhibition in the museum of contemporary art of Mérida, MACAY.
